Meet a Teacher

Mrs Lauren Coghill

Life before Girton:

I have worked in Administration at Girton for 15 years. I was lucky enough to make the transition to teaching this year.

What I Love about Teaching:

I love interacting with students and seeing the ‘light bulb’ moments when they grasp a concept that they have found challenging.

What is the best thing about teaching at Girton?

The Girton community. Working with students, families and staff. No question is a silly one and all I have to do is ask, and people will be there to help.

What do you like best about the year level you teach?

Year 5 Students are great. You can have a joke with them, and they get my humour.

My favourite classroom activity:

Maths, who doesn’t love maths!

What difference can good teaching make?

Good teachers are memorable. I still think about some teachers I had at school and the difference they made to my learning. I was fortunate enough to visit classrooms at Girton during my role Junior School administration, and seeing the difference teachers can make is one of the reasons I became a teacher.
