Screen-Free Scavengers
Out and About
On Wednesday 15 September most students in Years 7 to 11 classes enjoyed a screen-free day.
Students were invited to participate in an outdoor, screen-free Scavenger Hunt in their local area with their family or one non-household friend. This alternate program promoted and facilitated screen-free time for students and staff, encouraged safe outdoor physical activity, and recognised that a break from work and study is important for our mental wellbeing.
Students earned one (1) House Point was for every eligible photo or file submitted; photos and files could represent any of the categories listed in the graphic below.
Winners will be announced in Term 4.
Staff, students and parents found that the screen free day and outdoor activity was just what they needed to recharge and recover from this long term, remote learning and lockdown restrictions.
Thank you to those students and families who sent feedback about taking part in the Scavenger Hunt.
It was great to hear how many students had enjoyed the experience and that families could see how an activity such as this can be of such benefit during remote learning.
Teachers also reported that the activity was a welcome reprieve from screen-time and that it was a great way to head into the end of term - ending on a positive note.
It was fabulous to see students provide so many creative responses to the scavenger hunt prompts. We hope you enjoy the selection from our students and staff and encourage you to do the scavenger hunt (or design one of your own) as we head into Term 3 holidays.
