Message from the Principal
Staying Connected
During this term, staff and students have again gone to considerable effort to remain connected and engaged with each other.
Home Group Sessions have provided extended opportunity for staff to check in with students, along with usual class time sessions. Our Wellbeing Team have remained available to all students, as well as offering wellbeing sessions to staff. Students have also found creative ways to remain engaged with each other - see the Good (theatre) Sports page of this issue, and can be congratulated on their effort, positive outlook and resilience.
2021 Lockumentary 1 was circulated to the BSC community, showing tips and tricks for surviving lockdown from staff sharing their experiences. We trust you enjoyed them as much as we enjoyed making them for you all.
While you were locked down...
The fabulous BSC Maintenance Team have been busy in our absence. The school grounds look great, and with the weather warming up, trees coming in to leaf and flowers coming into bloom, they are keen to welcome us back to site.
The new First Aid Room has been fitted out, garden beds have been re-mulched, the hockey field fencing has been resprayed, and all the school verandah posts have been repainted!. Currently, the benches and tables under the shade sail near F block are being sanded and re-varnished; the shade sail has been removed, and is soon to be replaced.
Yes, Ray and David have been working hard - a lonely job through lockdown. They look forward to the return of staff and students who will appreciate the work completed in their absence.
Education Support staff, led by Business Manager, Chris Salmond, have ensured that the school has remained open to the public, that all public and community enquiries have been managed well, and have provided a path of communication between families and teaching staff where required. ES staff have also ensured that facilities and resources have been managed while we are in remote learning. Their work is most appreciated.
The Student Administration team have continued to manage the busy Year 7 2022 enrolment process and to date, we have 196 students enrolled to enter BSC next year.
Many thanks also to Margaret Mouritides, Liz Kappos and Helen Wills, who continue to work with those students who have been eligible to attend school during the lockdown period.
