Year 8 World Expo
Last week, the Year 8 students presented their ‘World’ projects to their class and visiting teachers. The effort put into this learning was tremendous. Students not only wrote and illustrated their ‘world’, but they were also expected to explain it verbally and answer questions about it.
8M will be presenting their learning once we are back onsite.
Please enjoy the photos of the Year 8 students and their Worlds.
Book Week
We are coming up to 'Book Week', and like every year, students are fortunate to be having author visits. Year 7 will be listening to Jack Heath. Year 8 will hear from Archie Fusillo and Year 9 will enjoy a presentation by Zoey Baker. These presentations will most likely take place via Zoom. It is a great opportunity for students to learn from these authors and will hopefully encourage the writers amongst our students to keep trying. Thank you to the Library staff for organising this.
Assembly last Monday
On Monday in assembly, students were asked to email their answer to: 'What made you smile today?' It was very pleasing to see that even though things are not always the way we like, there is always a reason to smile. Please see below some of the wonderful student responses.

I woke up this morning and my dog sleeps in my room and I did not know where he was, I looked around everywhere in my room, until I looked at my pillow beside me and his head was on it, he was on his back sleeping under my blanket. It was so cute, and I could not stop laughing.

The thing that made me smile today would honestly be coming to Home Learning at school because of a little Preppy. Every time we see him, he gives me the cutest smile and runs up to us and hugs me. At snack and lunch, I run around the grass and chase him or the other way around. We would also pretend he is super strong. I genuinely really like coming to Home Learning at school because of him. I do not know if that’s the best answer but it’s probably my favourite one!

Over the past two weeks, I have been monitoring my garden, specifically the jasmines I had planted. Every morning, I would peep out into my garden and hope for a bud to sprout. Today, one of the flowers had finally sprouted and revealed a beautiful white jasmine. This is what made me smile today. Little things in life put a smile on my face, even something as minuscule as a jasmine blossoming.

My brother’s goofy jokes, smile and laugh.

Waking up and knowing that I’m safe and healthy.

Just waking up today made me smile, knowing that it was going to be a nice calm day at home with my family. The feeling of knowing you are safe with your family with no judgement is something to smile about, I reckon. I felt like there was no pressure on me and I did not have to stress about anything.
Sienna R - 7I
Today I smiled because I woke up feeling grateful for the fact that I have yet to catch the Covid-19 disease and feel healthy, positive and motivated on the outside and inside…something that a lot of people do not feel right now in these tough times.
Adriel Y - 7D
What made me smile today was hearing my 5-year-old brother in the room next to me chatting, giggling and having fun with his friends and class. Whereas in school I would not be able to see him enjoying his first year of school.

All four of my chickens laying eggs right next to a fake one (training ones).

Today the thing that has made me smile is waking up and having a lovely greeting from my dog to start my Home Learning school day. Her name is Miley and she has now made it part of her routine to wake me up every single morning. It’s very sweet and I value it very much.

What made me smile today is many things but what really made me smile was waking up this morning knowing I get to spend another day with my beautiful family, friends, teachers and peers and knowing how lucky I am to be able to live my life like I do now. What also made me smile was knowing how lucky I am to be able to go to an amazing school, live under shelter and get fed every night. I do not know what I would do without the support around me right now and I cannot explain how grateful I am for all the people in my life. I hope something makes you smile today!
