Principal's Message
Mrs Josie Crisara
I want to start by acknowledging the effect of the lockdowns and increased restrictions on us all. The College staff are here to support your child and help families where needed. We know that communication and connection are so very important for our overall wellbeing, so I encourage parents to check that their children are engaging with online lessons, that they have a set school routine at home and continue to eat healthy meals and get regular and sufficient sleep. Our social media and My Aitken have resources that can help inform parents about what you can do in these times to support your children but also look after yourself.
The school-based chapels and assemblies online are an opportunity to reflect on our theme of 'Virtues' for this term in Chapel and wellbeing in assemblies. Sometimes we need to accept life’s disappointments when we miss things we really look forward to, such as in recent times with school events. Well done to the musical cast and crew who worked hard to at least get in one full performance, albeit without an audience. Snippets of their work has been included in assemblies and on Facebook.
The theme in this week’s Chapel was love. We used the well-known bible verse from the Corinthians:
“Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.
It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking,
it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”
A timely verse to reflect on our interactions with each other, our values and also for counting our blessings in these challenging times.
