Principal's News

Dear Parents / Carers,

As always it was lovely to welcome the children back to school again this morning, this time after only a short time in remote learning.  School grounds have a much better ring to them with the children back playing downball, tiggy, basketball, skipping and more, and in the beautiful sunshine this morning!  We thank you for your patience as changes occur so quickly and trust that it is for the health and safety of us all at this time.  We know that continual change can be stressful and appreciate all that families are doing in these times.  (A flick to the Sport section today has examples of some very creative P.E. Olympics responses sent in to Ms Lynch this week.)

This is a sentiment echoed by the Director of Catholic  Education in Ballarat in a letter to parents which is attached today.  Tom wrote and circulated this letter last Friday so we are aware that the second last sentence refers to still being in lockdown, however I believe the overall message of the letter is still relevant.

DIGITAL TATTOO

After being postponed a couple of times last term, ‘Digital Tattoo’ proceeded last Wednesday when Leigh presented her workshop remotely for the years 5 and 6 classes. Yesterday, the children in these classes wrote an invitation to their parents to attend the parent and carer information session. This will be held via Zoom tomorrow evening- Wednesday, August 11th between 7:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. The presenter is highly recommended and parents of children from all levels are welcome to attend as Leigh speaks about online interaction and the power of choices for our young learners.  The link to this zoom meeting is: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85949627061?pwd=RmhYa2xDVDl0M2FGZ2lWSERKRi9hQT09

Leigh has asked that parents and carers attending the session please try and not be in a space where children can hear and that you have your video on so as she can see her audience.

SACRAMENTAL PROGRAM

Over the next three weekends, families from our school and Parish will be celebrating the sacraments of Confirmation and First Communion at St. Mary’s Church.  The ceremonies will be held at both the 6pm Mass on Saturday night and at 11am on Sunday morning this weekend August 14th and 15th, and again on the weekends for August  21st and 22nd; and August 28th and 29th.  The children are reminded to bring along their white stoles with the transfer ironed on.

The children will be rehearsing their roles in these Masses at St. Mary’s Church this Friday.  Teachers will take the children up to the 10am Mass by bus and after Mass they will have time to practise for the weekend’s ceremonies.

Our community wishes all children involved and their families the very best for the celebrations.

Please see more information on the Sacraments from Julie, our R.E. Leader, further on in the newsletter.
