Important COVID-19 updates:

Co-administration of COVID-19 vaccines and other vaccines

Year 7 families were sent an email today (Wednesday 1 September) with important information around the administration of the COVID-19 vaccines and other vaccines.

Please note, if your child is receiving a COVID-19 vaccine in the next seven days, or is due to receive a COVID-19 vaccine within seven days following the HPV Dose 2 vaccine, your child will not be able to receive the HPV Dose 2 vaccine in the school program on Thursday 9 September 2021.

Parents and carers can advise both the school directly by emailing fmedwin@smc.tas.edu.au and Hobart City Council on (03) 6238 2829 or immunisation@hobartcity.com.au so their child can be removed from the class list.

Vaccination rollout for Year 11 and 12 students

As you may be aware, the Tasmanian Government will be delivering free COVID-19 vaccines to students in Years 11 and 12 who are aged 16 years and older.

The COVID-19 Schools Vaccination Program is part of the Tasmanian Government's 'Super Six' week vaccination effort, which is being delivered in conjunction with Catholic Education Tasmania.

The Pfizer (Comirnaty) vaccine will be administered in specialised clinics, with St Mary's College students to attend a clinic at Guilford Young College Hobart in mid-September, over a two-day period.

The second vaccine will be delivered in mid-October, again over a two-day period at Guilford Young College.

More information was detailed in an email sent to all Year 11 and 12 families on Friday 27 August.

Evacuation survey for lockdown scenario

In the unlikely event of a student or staff member receiving a positive result for COVID-19, we will immediately seek advice from the Tasmanian Government and contact you via SMS and an email soon after.

If this happens during the school day and we are advised to evacuate the site, we wish to seek your permission to ensure your child leaves the College safely.

Please refer to the email sent to all families this afternoon, which includes a link to the permission form.

If you have any questions, please contact the Business Office on (03) 6108 2560 or email communications@smc.tas.edu.au

Reminder to check in with app

All parents, carers and visitors are reminded to please use the Check in TAS app when entering school buildings, including classrooms, the office and canteen.

If dropping off and/or picking up students, checking in with the app or at College reception is not required if you remain outside and do not stay longer than 15 minutes.

Those who do not have the means of checking in with the app when wishing to enter a building are required to sign in at reception.

Have you been interstate?

If you or your family members have travelled interstate recently, we ask that you please be aware of the travel advice and restrictions related to COVID-19 and to notify the College accordingly.

Please visit coronavirus.tas.gov.au or call the Public Health Hotline on 1800 671 738 for further advice.

Vinnies Quiz Night

Dust off your thinking caps—it's trivia time!

The St Mary's College Vinnies Youth Conference is thrilled to invite you to its upcoming Vinnies Quiz Night, to be held on Friday 10 September.

Tickets are $10 per person, with all money raised going directly to supporting the St Vincent de Paul Society. Book your seats here.

Donation request

As a student-run group, the St Mary’s College Vinnies Youth Conference strives to raise funds and provide care to the most vulnerable members of our community.

To make this fundraiser successful, we are seeking donations and contributions for prizes, with the proceeds of the quiz night going directly to the St Vincent de Paul Society.

Generous donors like you are key to this Quiz Night’s success and make it possible for St Vincent de Paul to continue to support local individuals and families in need of assistance.

If you are considering donating, we will be proud to advertise your business throughout the duration of the quiz night and in the fortnightly Fountain newsletter, which is distributed to more than 3,000 people.

Your kind donations will be greatly appreciated.

Donations may be mailed or delivered to St Mary's College or collected by St Mary’s Vinnies Youth representatives at an organised time.

We thank you for your time and consideration, and hope that we can count on your support to help us in our fundraiser.
