Parent & Student Workshop

Early last week the Food Studies teacher’s ran a series of Parent/Student workshops for year 8 and 9 students. These workshops highlighted the types of meals students make in Year 9 Bakery/Café, Taste of Asia and Year 10 Taste of Europe.

The Bakery/Café workshop took on a Mexican feel by producing delicious chicken burrito bowls. The parents and students worked together to make their bowl out of the burrito and fill it with a range of tasty ingredients such as char grilled peppers, coriander and lime rice and marinated chicken.

Taste of Asian made traditional pork rolls, also known as Banh Mi Tiht. The recipe used traditional Vietnamese flavours such as coriander, fish sauce and lemongrass.

The Taste of Europe class took a tour to Italy and produced gourmet roasted vegetable pizzas. Parents and students learnt how to make pizza dough, which they then topped with a range of freshly baked Mediterranean vegetables.

It was wonderful seeing parents and their children working together to make a meal, which they were able to take home and enjoy for dinner or share with the rest of the family.

Due to receiving, such positive feedback from parents and student’s we are happy to announce another series of workshops for year 8 students, second week term three Tuesday 23rd July.

Bakery/Café – Fro Fro’s (delicious raspberry cupcakes)

Taste of Asia – Thai Hamburgers.
