Holiday Workshops

By Marilyn Smith

Principal

In the second week of the coming holiday break we are offering a Kerbal Space Program for Arlington children in the upper primary years and Year 7 with an invitation extended to students from other schools. This program is a game designed to teach children the elements of rocket science in a very engrossing and challenging way.

Adam Simon, Preshil’s IT technician, is running this course, as he has done as part of the School’s Electives Program for two years. Adam has developed a strong rapport with students in several areas and has been able to support teachers across the School from the Kindergarten to the Secondary School.

The Secondary School’s Electives Program covers a very broad range of offerings, targeting design, technology and the arts in ways that allow students to follow their passions, work with others from Years 7 to 10 in the same class, interact with specialists and professionals from outside the School and develop the depth of knowledge that the classroom curriculum does not always have room for.

This holiday program is our first; we are planning to host a much more extensive range of offerings next year and already have plans to include music, coding, design, 3D printing and several other ideas for workshops, along with the drama classes offered through Drama With A Difference.

Please let us know of other suggestions and whether or not holiday programs run at the School are something that would be valued by your family.
