Remembrance Day Liturgies

On Monday 11 November, we gathered in the Auditorium to commemorate Remembrance Day for 2019.  We were led in two liturgies by our 2019 College Leaders and by our Year 9 Leaders.

"Today we have gathered here at the St James College, at this time, to remember all those from every nation, who have given their lives for peace. Today, the flag flies at half-mast, in respect for those who have died in wars. We will begin by standing with an attitude of respect and pride, for the playing of the National Anthem."

The liturgies are based on our prayer of thanksgiving for all who have gone before us. We listened keenly as we were invited to hear the stories of all those who have made the supreme sacrifice for our country and we prayed particularly for the safety of our men and women who are currently serving in difficult circumstances overseas.

Our liturgies concluded with the recitation of the ode, the playing of the last post and a minute’s silence. It was very pleasing to see every student participating in these liturgies with a mature sense of respect and reverence for the occasion.
