Music Notes

Classical concert

by Karoline Kuti, Music Coordinator

Sublime Song  lived up to it’s name; a diverse showing of different composers and seemingly endless supply of talent, from the youngest members of the School to the oldest.

With so many wonderful performances, the night was filled with beauty, inclusivity and joy.

The Lofties (5 & 6 year olds) joined the Arlington Strings n Things  ensemble, displaying the classroom instrumental program; Hamish (Year 8) blew everyone away with his Bach on the bassoon; Greta (Year 8) dazzled us with her quick piano fingers; Gus (Year 7) rose to the challenge of Vivaldi’s La Minor Violin Concerto 1st Movement; Gulliver (Year 11) had everyone captivated with his passionate piano playing and our MC, Mat (Year 11), tied the night together with his usual easy manner and witty anecdotes. Unfortunately there were too many performances to mention them all here but… oh, what a night!

We so appreciated the exceptional stage management from Tahlia (Year 10), the ever-inspiring work of our instrumental teachers, and the night would not be possible without the effervescent Michelle Berner. What a pleasure it was to be involved in such a wonderful event.

DP Music

In addition to creating music for the Production and preparing for the classical concert held on Monday night, these students recently travelled to Geelong Grammar to take part in a DP Music workshop.

Students had the opportunity to work with Gypsy ensemble – Varsdos – and make connections with peers from many other schools, as well as delve deeper into course work with expert examiners. It was a day full of fun learning and meeting new people.
