Associate Principal, Operations Report

Next Wednesday, the annual Communion Service for students in Years 6-12 and members of staff at Chaucer Street occurs. The Uniting Church minister in Warrnambool, Rev Geoff Barker, will return to lead our worship. Mr Barker led this service in 2012 and 2013. As a former school teacher, he is well-placed to lead a service such as this at a school and his message will be pertinent.
All students will be invited to take the Communion (or the Eucharist or Mass as it is known in other denominations). It is the Uniting Church tradition to welcome all to the table; no special beliefs or requirements are set down. We are conscious, however, that some other denominations require young people to be Confirmed before they receive Communion. Please discuss with your children whether receiving the bread and wine (grape juice!) is appropriate for them so they are in a position to make the right decision for themselves when the invitation is given.
Dr Hirst, Ms Winter Cooke, Mr Doheny and I will assist Rev Geoff in distributing the elements; Mrs McClure and Mr Hiscock have the musical accompaniment under control.
In previous years, the Communion Service has been a respectful and important part of our Service schedule. I look forward to sharing this year's Service with our School community.
Mr Neil MacLean
