Mater Dei Day
Our annual Mater Dei Day Homegroup trivia challenge was held in Lesson 5 on Tuesday, 26th of July. In homegroups staff and students answered questions about the College Community. College and House Captains held challenges and there may have been a few bonus points awarded for treats shared with scorers and office staff. After the two celebrations earlier in the day, it was a fitting end to Mater Dei Day.
Committee4Wagga Student Leaders Program
The Committee4Wagga Student Leaders Programsees selected students complete seven leadership modules over six days throughout the year. Two MDCC participants detail their experiences below.
From this program, I’ve learnt how to deal with different personalities and perspectives of others and to improve my communication skills, both in public speaking and general settings. Being pushed to step out of my comfort zone, such as in Module 6 at Kapooka, has helped me to evolve by way of thinking and skills that I know now are important aspects of being a leader, and has provided me with a pathway to work on myself. I'm very grateful for the opportunities the Leadership program has provided me with.

The Committee For Wagga School Leaders Program allowed me to flourish and grow. I was able to push myself outside of the box in a controlled environment and learned new key skills that I was afraid to learn before participating in the program. I learnt how to improve my communication, public speaking and learnt how there are many different and important forms of leadership. Through working with different mentors from around the Wagga region I was able to see how people are able to use leadership skills in their everyday life. I am beyond grateful for being granted the opportunity to participate in the leadership program.
