Staff Absences

As winter kicks in, at CNPS we are starting to see a number of our teachers, support and office staff requiring time off for sick days. Typically, our staff are incredibly reluctant to have sick days and teachers really don’t like being away from their classes, however it does happen.

At CNPS, we do our best as a school to replace teachers with casual relief teachers (CRTs) where we can, however, it is important to know that there is currently an extreme state- wide shortage of CRTs. Please understand that with every staff absence, much thought and consideration is made to ensure we can have a continuity of learning and the highest quality teaching for your child. Class splits or different replacement teachers over an extended leave are a last resort, however at times are a reality.

We thank everyone for their understanding and respect for our staff.

Late Arrival Sign-in/Absence Notification

PLEASE sign your child in to the office if they arrive after the bell, or put an absence note on Compass if they are not at school.  This needs to be done by 10am to avoid being sent an SMS notification that your child has an unexplained absence.  Each SMS costs the school a fee, and so far this year has cost us $280.00.  We appreciate your understanding.

Compass Kiosk – fast, easy sign in and out

There is a Compass Kiosk on the office counter in the foyer.

When children are dropped off late or are collected early, parents can log this at the Kiosk. It’s very simple, as those parents who have used it so far can attest.

We also ask that you use the Kiosk to sign in as a visitor for reading, etc.  You will need to wear a label for the time you are on site so that students and staff can recognise that you have been to the office. These will be left alongside the Kiosk for you to complete and attach once signed in.  Please remember to also sign out when leaving the school, as we use this information in case of emergency evacuation. Thanks.
