Music Eisteddfod – Award Winners

Congratulations to all participants in the recent Music Eisteddfod. The two-day event featured performances by hundreds of students from both Primary and Secondary, in four simultaneous locations across the College. The external adjudicators made universally glowing comments about not only the standard of student performances, but also presentation, confidence, and support for each other. Competitors have all earned points towards the House Music Shield, the winner of which will be announced next Thursday 18 August.

Adjudicators also selected a number of exception performers in their sections. Secondary winners will receive their medals and trophies next Thursday 18 August, at the Music Eisteddfod: Secondary Winners’ Concert in the GBLT at 7pm. Primary award winners will have their medals and trophies presented in an upcoming Primary Assembly on a date to be confirmed. Congratulations to all award winners!

Primary Musical

The Year 4 students have been rehearsing daily for the Primary Musical; The Tale of Despereaux. Based on the book by Kate DiCamillo and adapted into a musical script by our Primary Drama Specialist Ms Cattapan, the show tells the tale of a mouse called Despereaux Tilling who goes on a quest to save a human princess from a rat-filled dungeon. Today’s dress rehearsal to grandparents was a huge success. The matinee performance to Primary students and the evening show for families takes place on Monday 15 August. Best wishes to all staff and students involved.

If an instrument stored in the Instrument Storeroom, in the Performing Arts Centre, is required to participate in online lessons, please contact the Music Office.

The Ellington Jazz Club

Monday's performance of jazz and soul at the Ellington Jazz Club did not disappoint. Students performed to a full house. We thank Alumni Bernard Kong (Class 1995) for hosting us.
