PRINCIPAL UPDATE

Dear Families

Travel:

I wish to remind all about our collective responsibility when travelling around our school and in the community. This is very relevant when the roads are slippery and the weather is challenging. The need to take care is important to all.

Students: we conduct a bike education program in Year 4 to give the children a sense of the dangers and also the skills to navigate the environment that presents itself.

Parents and staff: We appeal to all to take care and be extra vigilant around schools.

Negative: We periodically see the traffic supervisors “visit” us both before and after school. Their role is to make sure we do obey parking and road rules. It is unfortunate when this does not occur and a fine or warning is given BUT the rules are there to keep us all safe.

RAT Tests:

If you require any test please come to the office to collect. Although not mandated it is still a good idea to have these available when needed.

Book Fair:

Lots of staff, students and parents have taken the opportunity to look over the range of books available through the Fair. The Fair is on until Friday in the amphitheatre which is located via the middle door to the South Wing of the school. Great birthday presents!!!

Canteen:

At assembly and via previous newsletters I have made a few suggestion about our canteen service. Please if you have some feedback (excuse the pun!) could you send this in via email, Seesaw and it will be passed on or a phone conversation. A few points have already been made which include:

  • The portions are large so we have had a few orders which has resulted in food going in the bin.
  • We have encouraged the children to take leftover food home so you can guide the next order.
  • The smoothies do not come with a straw or an opening to insert one so spillage is often happening with the younger children.
  • Orders can only occur on Thursday due to the capacity of provider to fulfill the orders.

These small glitzes will be part of the refining of the service. Please provide us with your thoughts.

Thank you to the kind volunteers who have been forthcoming in assisting with the canteen. I am sure we all appreciate your time and support.

Thank you:

This week could I acknowledge the work undertaken by our Chaplain, Melissa Allport. The support Melissa gives to our students, staff and parents is invaluable. Like a lot of work undertaken, unless you and yours have been involved in this area, we are unaware of the quality and care.

Melissa has worked in our school for some time now and certainly from the staff at our school her work has been excellent. Melissa, posy COVID, has been employed 2 days per week.
