FAIRY BREAD FRACTIONS

This week we enjoyed making, and eating, fairy bread!  We explored the features of explanation texts as we wrote out a method for making fairy bread. We then followed the steps we created and made our own slice of fairy bread. We looked at the different ways we can cut and share our fairy bread, into halves, quarters and even eighths! We noticed that 1/2 was equal to 2/4. We loved eating the fairy bread when we had finished. 

HOW THE WORLD WORKS

We are in our final week of our inquiry into How the world works. This week we applied our understanding forces to invent and create. We made our own marble runs and found solutions to problems by using simple machines. 

WRITING TO EXPLAIN

This week we started a new writing genre ‘writing to explain’. We applied our knowledge of simple machines to write step by step instructions on how to use simple machines found around the home. It was fun working as a whole cohort to study the simple machines and explain how to use them to our peers!
