Twilight Prayer Evening
Anne Finlayson from the diocesan Faith Team is organising Twilight Prayer Meetings for St Joseph's. We are in the process of organising one meeting for Term 3 and another one for Term 4. These meetings will go from 3:30 - 5 pm and will be open to all; parents, staff, parishioners and friends of St Joseph's. Details to follow.
Feast Of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop
Mary MacKillop’s feast day is August 8th. We will be celebrating Mary’s feast day with a Liturgy of the Word at 12 noon followed by afternoon tea.
Mary was born in Melbourne, but was best known for establishing a number of schools and welfare institutions throughout Australasia (Australia and New Zealand), with an emphasis on education for the rural poor.
Mother Mary was canonised a Saint in 2010 and is formally known as St Mary of the Cross MacKillop. Mary’s motto was “Never see a need without doing something about it”.
Like many schools in the bush, the Sisters established St Joseph’s Warialda in 1904. The Sisters were withdrawn from Warialda in 2018. At the Thanksgiving Mass, Sister Mary Ellen O’Donoghue told the congregation that three Sisters, Srs Camillus, Berchmans and a postulant, opened St Joseph’s on Monday 11th July in 1904. As there are no longer Sisters present in town it is important that we keep their legacy well into the future.
God bless you and keep you safe.
