Late last semester Education Perfect (an online educational program) organised the 2023 Victorian State School Science Revision Challenge. This competition was open to all year levels at Victorian government schools and over 7,742 students participated. Aditya Patel in Year 7 won the whole competition which was a terrific result. Education Perfect representative, John Davison, presented Aditya with his prize and certificate at the end of semester Year 7 assembly. The Science faculty at Glen Eira College would like to congratulate Aditya on his excellent achievement.

This semester has started very busily. Students participating in the Science Talent Search have submitted their projects for assessment. This year’s theme was ‘Innovation: Powering the Future’ and our students investigated themes such as robots and the role of an EDNA scientist. We wish them the very best for this competition.

In classes students have been undertaking a range of practicals and the Year 12 Biology class have just started their ‘Extended Experimental Investigation’ (E.P.I). The E.P.I involves students designing a range of practical experiments to test a hypothesis they have created. It was great to see the variety of practicals that were undertaken.

National Science week will occur from Monday 14th to Friday 18th August. The theme for this year is: Innovations: Powering Future Industries. The school will be running events over lunchtime, so students need to check the GEC hub for what will be occurring each day. Stay tuned!!!
