Primary School

From the Head of Primary

Our exceptional Year Six students had the opportunity to showcase their leadership skills on Friday afternoon, leading our Pre-Primary to Year Five students in an 'Amazing Race' style Interhouse competition. Cryptic clues kept our students running around the school completing various challenges, all created by our Year Six Osborne class. Year Six Gordon students did an incredible job of leading each of the House’s four teams, ensuring maximum participation whilst looking after students from all ages. Well done to Camfield 1 for finishing the seven challenges first, followed by Baudin 3, Baudin 1 and Wilson 3 and 4 (equal fourth), rounding out the top four places. The Year Six students received lovely comments from their younger peers during the reflection time at the end. Thank you, Mr Osborne and our Year Six students, for a fun afternoon. Last Friday was of course Crazy Hair Day as well. Thank you, parents and students, for your efforts in contributing to an important cause.

There is never a quiet moment this term; whilst our upper primary students have been struck down with the suspense of some crazy antics, the Year Two students had their classroom totally destroyed by a frantic Green Dragon on Wednesday. Let’s hope he can find his special jewels without causing too much more chaos… Our Stretch and Challenge Mathematics groups are into Week Two of Fractions; it is hard to believe they are doing Maths with all the fun that has been had.

Our Horizons programmes for Term Three are all now in full swing with cooking beginning this week. Thank you, Mrs Brown, for passing on your practical cooking skills to our students; hopefully they will begin to showcase their new-found skills at home. Their Vietnamese rice paper rolls looked delicious.

Our Year Five class has been learning about digital systems and computer networks. This week they made a human diagram of a computer network, before using Lego to showcase what they could remember. Next week, our Year Five students venture off to Pemberton for three nights. An exciting itinerary of archery, mountain biking, canoeing and team building awaits them. Thank you, Ms Gracie Laneaux-Neale and Mr Berryman, for organising this wonderful opportunity and to Ms Suzanne Youens for joining our happy campers. We look forward to hearing of your adventures.
