Students programmed for coding

Year 7C students visited Year 3 recently for a fun-filled lesson on Ozobots (small robots that are designed as an introduction to coding) and creating maps using colour combinations. All students had an engaging time and will continue learning together throughout this term.

Budding chemists in the mix

Year 7 students have been budding chemists, exploring what matter is and how to separate different types of mixtures. The students are growing in confidence every lesson as they become more comfortable in the lab, conducting experiments and seeing how their learning translates in the real world.

In their latest experiment, the students were challenged to use some of their newfound techniques to separate a mixture containing sand, water, salt, iron filings and polystyrene balls so they had each individual component remaining at the end.

Year 5 singers hit the right note

The angelic voices of our talented Year 5 choir filled the Hobart Federation Concert Hall on 4 July in a combined choir event held as part of Festival of Voices. The choir, which comprised more than 150 students from Tasmanian schools and community ensembles, participated in in two workshop/rehearsal days leading up to their performance.

The students sang beautifully, performing six songs under the direction of special guest conductors Paul Jarman (NSW) and Claire Preston (QLD), with two songs accompanied by the Tasmanian Youth Orchestra. Well done to all participating students and thank you to Scott Weston and Michael Power, from the College's Music department, for this opportunity.

Millie puts a pep in our step

Millie, our therapy-dog-in-training, certainly put our Kinder students through their paces during a recent PE session!
