Term 3 has been progressing at a fast pace with many exciting events and occurrences. Our year seven students have recently visited Melbourne Zoo which has been a valued and great new experience for many of our students. Year 8 students have visited Kryal Castle as a part of their humanities students and have also made trips to the Whittlesea Tech School as a part of the Inquiry Class project. Last week the school hosted science week which saw daily trivia questions, a staff morning tea, and daily science exhibits. This week it is book week at LSC where there are daily activities in the library and a dress up competition. Last week our SRC students held an out of uniform day to raise funds for the cancer councils pink ribbon campaign. The students managed to raise $685 for the fantastic cause. And finally, our year 10 students will be hosting their formal on Friday the 25th of August. Students will be attending Normanby House Reception Centre from 7pm – 11pm, the event is a special night for students and all who have attended in the past have had a memorable time.

Year 8 students have been involved in the subject selection process for year 9 in 2024. The subject selection portal has now closed, and students should have completed their selection. A reminder, all students that have completed their selections must return the signed selection sheet to the general office or to the junior school office as soon as possible. If you believe that you have missed the subject selections, please contact your student managers to discuss the next steps.

A reminder for our year 7 and year 10 students regarding immunisations. Year 7 immunisations will be occurring on Thursday the 7th of September. Year 7 students will be receiving a combined MMR vaccine. Please ensure that all medical cards have been returned to the general office. At the same time as the year 7 immunisations, there will be a catch up for the year 10 students who missed out at the start of the year and would like to receive their Meningococcal vaccine. This is a free service that is provided by the City of Whittlesea and is worthwhile engaging in. If any student requires an additional medical card, they can be accessed from out general office.

I am pleased to announce that there are two new pedestrian gates that have been installed at the college along Dalton Rd. The pedestrian gates have been installed to assist in the flow of foot traffic within the school and reduce the use of the car park as an entry/exit point to improve student and community safety. The pedestrian gates are located either side of the science centre, further north along Dalton Rd from the student crossing, and prior to the bus stop.
