Multicultural Concert

The schools Multicultural Concert was held on Thursday the 17th of August at PRACC. The event was sold out which created an electric atmosphere inside the venue. All the performances were amazing, with the hard work and preparation that went into the show paying off for all the students involved. My children had the pleasure of attending and particularly loved the K-Pop performers, both singers and the Polynesian acts. A huge thank you to all the staff who supported the program and managed to deliver a wonderful show, especially Olivia Cirillo who has spent many hours motivating, organising and inspiring the young people involved both back of stage and front of stage. I’m sure that all of the students, parents and staff that attended would agree it was a huge success.

2024 Planning

The school commenced planning for the educational program in 2024 at the beginning of this Term. It takes a lot of time and effort to have this process completed and requires parents and students in Years 8 to 11 to engage with the process so an extensive elective program can be delivered. Subject selections for Years 9 to 12 closed on Friday the 18th of August. If your child has not involved themselves in this process, they are not currently being included in the process. They will eventually be included in the process as ongoing students of the college, however if they want choice that is specific to their wants and needs they need to engage with the school and complete the online selection process. If for any reason a student has not completed the online subject selection process, please have them speak to their sub-school leader immediately to assist them in completing this important process.

Parent Information

Traffic Management – can I ask that all parents please drive carefully around the school during pick up and drop off times. This is especially concerning around the Lorne Street Park and Dalton Road. The school has recently added 2 more pedestrian gates for students to exit from along Dalton Road, so they do not have to share the carpark exit with cars entering and leaving the school. To assist with having students use those gates, the school will close the Dalton Road Carpark gates at 2.30pm so there is no traffic coming in and out of the college carpark gates between 2.30pm and 3.15pm.

Recently we have had some parents coming to the general office to drop off take away food such as KFC and McDonalds for their children. This places an unfair burden on our office staff to then contact the students, chase them up and then pass on the food. This also sends the wrong message to the rest of our student community in regard to healthy eating and accessible foods while at school. Can I please ask that parents arrange a packed lunch for their children that they bring to school in their school bags or provide money so they can purchase items from the cafeteria.

There will be a student free day on Thursday the 31st of August. No students are required at school on this day.
