Last Friday we had 41 Year 5&6 students participate in the much-anticipated Basketball Victoria HOOPTIME tournament at MSAC.   All five teams are to be congratulated on their hard-fought efforts and great teamwork displayed over the day, with a number of comments from attending staff and parents on the great sportsmanship that was witnessed throughout the day.

Impressively, out of our 5 teams entered, we had 4 making it into the semi-finals!  Sadly, all did their best but were narrowly beaten by their semi-final opposing teams…

Today we have four Year 3&4 HoopTime teams participating in their Junior HoopTime event. .  As it’s the first HoopTime experience for many of these students, there were certainly lots of pre-nerves amongst the students as they departed by bus this morning! We will report on their day out at MSAC next week.

THANK YOU’S…. To ensure our teams are well supported for this day, we rely on the amazing support from many of our parents and staff.  We’d like to pass on a HUGE THANK YOU to ALL the Senior HoopTime parents that gave up their day to help coach, manage and score for their child’s team - a huge thank you goes to: Chris O, Shane T, Carla O, Kate B, Peter N, Daniela S, Amanda G and Alex S  We are very grateful for this amazing community of families that we have here at St. Finbar’s.  Special thanks also goes to our attending staff; Mr Anderson, Mr Tyndall and Sue Humble, who also supported the students over the day at MSAC.

DISTRICT ATHLETICS - Friday 25th August

A team of approximately 80 students are set to represent our school at the upcoming Dendy District Athletics carnival on Friday 25th August.  We wish our team members all the very best as they prepare for their event/s. This year the Dendy Athletics carnival is being held at Duncan McKinnon Reserve in Murrumbeena.  Once final team sorting is completed next week, all team member families will be receiving an Operoo permission and information email very soon.  Any parents willing to volunteer an hour or two to help run the triple jump event for us, please email Tania with your availability or tick the helper section within the Operoo email.  Thank you.

REQUEST:

We still have a number of borrowed Winter Sport jerseys / soccer jerseys &/or HoopTime singlets to be returned.  If we can please ask all Year 3-6 families to have a good search at home & ensure their child has handed it back to their class teachers by tomorrow please.  Thank you!
