Around the College

Canvas Art Award 2023

We would like to congratulate Year 11 student, Christy K. for her success at the JMC Canvas Art Awards. High school students from across the country were invited to creatively interpret the below brief into an illustrated scene:

"What the world will look like in 10,000 years’ time and how humans will evolve to adapt?"

Submissions must have a human character situated within their relevant environment, and must include a

“PINK ICED DOUGHNUT” somewhere in the scene (sprinkles are optional).

Christy was announced RUNNER UP for her entry!

SEAL Open Night

In pursuit of nurturing bright minds and fostering a culture of excellence that supports individual learning needs, DSC provides extended opportunities for students such as the Select Entry Accelerated Learning (SEAL) program. Current families and new families enrolled in Year 7 2024 were invited to discover more about our SEAL program by attending the SEAL Open Night on Tuesday 1st August at 5.30pm. Around 100 guests attended, enjoying refreshments before taking their seats to hear from Glenn Morris and our enthusiastic SEAL teachers.

A highlight of the evening was the student presentations. Current Year 7 & 8 SEAL students wowed guests with their work in English, Maths and Science extension studies. In English, Year 7 student, Caitlin, demonstrates her understanding of an author’s intention by presenting an idea using a different mode to narrative writing. Caitlin chose to write a song.

Our Music ensemble students kept things lively with a half-time performance.

SEAL Testing takes place on campus on Wednesday 23rd August and the new intake of SEAL students will be announced early in Term 4.
