Journeying Together in Christ
Although we have experienced a wet end to the week the school term started well. The children have settled in their routine. Healthy Harold made a welcome return to school and our auditorium provided a great venue to explore the programs across all year levels.
St Luke's Feast Day
St Luke the Evangelist and our School's Patron Saint was a beloved physician, but his principal occupation was the advancement of the Christian mission. St Paul in 2 Timothy 4:11 says, "Only Luke is with me"
When we search for information on St Luke's journey Paul is often mentioned in their missionary work. There is a major shrine in Padua, Italy. We celebrate the feast day on Tuesday 18th October. Andrew Chinn will join us on Monday as a lead into Tuesday. We will begin Tuesday with a 9:00am mass in the stadium. All parents are welcome.
Pinot & Picasso
This was a great initiative of the community group. Parents and staff enjoyed the possible 'first' experience in the footsteps of an artist for a few hours!
New Building Opening
Wednesday 16th November at 10:00am. Bishop Shane Mackinlay is Blessing the building and a state government representative will be confirmed to officiate the opening.
The ceremony will take place in the auditorium and the children and any parents/carers will be seated on the grass and area looking towards the auditorium. If we experience unfavourable drainage we will communicate this on the morning and the event will be limited to the invited guests and some students.
New crosses for each room are being created at the moment and these will be placed in each room.
End of Year events
Please see the calendar page for known events for term 4 and the start of 2023.
Many families in who have joined us since 2019 have not experienced any end of year events/functions due to the pandemic and storms in December 2019.
December includes some of the following:
Whole School Orientation: the students from Years 1-6 visit there new learning space and teacher for a couple of hours. After this they fill in a small take home note with some details for parents/carers.
Meet and Greet Night- in the past we have had a Foundation evening but this year we are opening this up to any NEW enrolments for 2023. This is not an information night but a social gathering so all Foundation can meet each other and existing families can support new families. If new parents from years 1-6 attend we will have some existing parents for your to meet.
Year 6 Big Day Out - a celebration for year 6 only normally off site.
End of Year Mass - a celebration for all students F-6 and their families. We acknowledge all students, farewell Year 6 and any staff who are leaving. It was scheduled for a day time mass in 2020 but that was cancelled. This year we will hold the mass at 12:30pm and all children will be bused into St Brendan's church, unless we hold it in our stadium. The plan is to operate on a two year cycle 2022- 12:30pm, 2023 6:00pm. We will review how this goes in 2022.
The day time event will allow all children to attend and farewell their Year 6 leaders/buddies.
School Disco- the community group assist staff and we hold 3-4 unit discos throughout the day. It is a casual clothes day and at the end of the time the children have the option of receiving a food treat.
Child Safe Standards
Each fortnight we will share any update or information as required. You can view policies on our webpage and some volunteer parents may be familiar with some of this information due to the induction.
Weather Updates and possible flooding
Thank you for your cooperation Thursday afternoon. Things today (at the time of writing this) were ok at school. The work at the front of the school is not due to the rain, but preparation for landscaping. The water lying in the carpark will take time to leave. The drainage is not blocked, but the retention basin and drainage channel along Grace Road are full.
