JAPANESE DAY- Thursday 3 November!

Japanese Day at Murrumbeena Primary is a celebration of all things Japanese.

Students will take part in a variety of different activities connected to Japanese culture. These activities tie in with their weekly Japanese lessons, but are an opportunity to focus on culture as well as language. Students are encouraged to dress up for the day.

It can be as simple as cherry blossoms as a hair decoration, a white shirt with a large red circle to represent the flag of Japan or a samurai helmet made from a sheet of newspaper. Costumes can also be as creative and elaborate as a sushi roll, an anime character or a bottle of soy sauce.

The menu for the SAKG also has a Japanese theme so students in Year 3 and 4 will be able to enjoy preparing some Japanese food and the canteen has a special lunch order available. (See Canteen news for details.)

MURRUMBEENA ART SHOW 2022- Thursday 24 November!

AN INVITATION TO PARTICIPATE

'Raise Our Voice in Parliament' is back for 2022!

Raise Our Voice Australia has partnered with the Member for Higgins, Dr Michelle Ananda-Rajah, who will be amplifying the voice of a young person from Goldstein in federal Parliament this November.

Together with our partners UNICEF Australia and the Australian Youth Affairs Coalition (AYAC), we have invited Federal MPs across the country to read a 90-second speech written by a young person from their electorate. Speeches will be read from 21-24 November 2022 for Youth Voice in Parliament week.

Speeches should be approximately 200 words (90 seconds), and should answer the prompt "What do you want to see from Australia's new parliament?"

Speech submissions close on 21 October - so please head to:  www.raiseourvoiceaustralia.com/youthvoice to access speech templates, check out our speech writing tips, and to submit your speech. We look forward to hearing from you!

GO FOR GOLD M.P.S.!

Get ready, get set to Go for Gold this October!

Get active this October (3-28) and help our school become the Glen Eira Active Schools Champion for 2022!

One lucky student will also win a Fitbit Ace.

You will receive a Golden Ticket at the start of Term 4 and each time you walk, ride or scoot to school, tick one of the boxes on the ticket.

Being active helps keep us fit and healthy so whether you walk, ride or scoot to school, all or part of the way, it all counts!

Don't forget to mark Friday 21 October in your diaries because we will be encouraging teachers, students, and parents to participate in a car-free day, so everyone walks, rides or scoots to school. (See special page for details.)

At the end of October, you'll submit your entry to go into the draw to win a Fitbit Ace, as well as help our school take out the interschool honours!

Good luck, get active and have fun!
