Co-curricular - Junior Sport

Welcome back to the final term for 2022. It feels like only yesterday that we were starting the new school year and now we are heading towards the final stages. I hope that everyone has enjoyed their term break and has had the opportunity to relax and recharge, ready for the hectic period that is Term 4.

As you would be aware, we have now ceased using the Stack Team App for Junior School and all Co-curricular information will now be released through the SPC App. For Co-curricular, many of you would have already downloaded the app and subscribed to the sport(s) your son(s) plays. In an effort to not overwhelm families with unnecessary notifications, all Junior School sports will have their own tag. The tags are labelled ‘Junior School - name of sport’. All boys and their parents/carers will need to select these new tags for information regarding trainings and fixtures for Term 4.

Steps to follow:

  1. Open the app and click on settings in the bottom right-hand corner
  2. Select ‘Subscriptions’
  3. Select ‘Co-curricular’
  4. Select the Junior School tags appropriate to you and your son(s).

As we continue to develop the SPC App, more Junior School tags will be created for Winter sports, in addition to the Swimming and Athletics seasons. Of most importance will be the Junior School Fixtures tag and the sport your son(s) play.

The draft draw is available now on the SPC App on the Junior School Fixtures tag. Please be aware that this is a draft only and is subject to weekly changes. Please refer to the weekly draw which will show the weekend’s date and the relevant round number, including the most up to date fixture venues and times. The addresses for the weekend’s venues will also be available here.

At the end of Term 3 and the beginning of this term, there have been a number of injured boys in the Junior School. A reminder to boys and their parents/carers that boys are expected to wear the College uniform at all times unless the injury prevents them from being able to do so. Examples would be if the injury required a bulky brace that shorts or trousers cannot be pulled up over or the brace won’t fit through a sleeve; or if the injury is to the hand and there is a loss of finger dexterity, making it impossible for your son to do up his buttons. If the injury does prevent your son from wearing the College uniform, a note must be sent to the student’s class teacher explaining the reason for not being in uniform.

With the commencement of IPSHA Summer sport, we also have the Summer Sports Program recommencing this term as well. All boys that had nominated to participate in Term 1 are expected to be involved again in Term 4. All sessions will occur at the College on SPC 3, and the schedule will be part of the weekly fixtures. Year 5 participants are starting at 8:00 AM and the Year 6 group starting at 9:30 AM.

It has been great to see all the boys in the early part of this week get out and begin training for the Summer season. We are already ahead of Term 1, with all teams so far getting some training under their belts. Fingers crossed this is the pattern for the term and we get all 6 rounds completed.

Good luck to all teams and their coaches for this weekend. For many teams, this will be their first opportunity to represent the College this year in a Summer sport.
