Celebrating Big Write and Big Type in Stage 2

This term Stage 2 students are working really hard to improve their skills in writing. Supporting this intensive learning focus has been the introduction of a weekly Big Write/Type.

Conversations around healthy foods have been the focal point of our writing samples. Please see below some examples of some of the students in Stage 2 with their Big Writes.

Brain Olympia

Next Wednesday 26th October St Edward's will host the Tamworth Cluster of the Brain Olympia competition. This is an inter school academic and creative arts competition that sees students from all over the diocese compete against each other in teams of 8.

St Edward's will enter three teams made up of students from Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6.

Each team will compete in the following areas:

  • Mathematical Problem Solving
  • Public Speaking
  • General Knowledge
  • Impromptu Drama

The winning team from the Tamworth Cluster will compete at the Diocesan Final in Narrabri on Wednesday 9th November.

A full wrap of the day including photos and results will be in next week's newsletter.

WRITING ASSESSMENTS in Year 1

Stage 2 are not the only grades who have been working hard at their writing this week. Year 1 were certainly very focused this morning as they showed off their fantastic writing skills in their Cold Write assessment. The teachers were particularly impressed with the effort and application from all the students today!
