Sports Update

On October 17  we had 5 incredibly proud students represent EMC at the SSV State Athletics at Lakeside Stadium, Albert Park.

Asha Morrow B73 competed in the 12/13 girls 1500m. Asha ran an amazing race, considering she was under age and  finished 7th in a strong field. She managed a PB time, beating her previous time by more than a second.

Grady Wood M92, Tyler Ramstein B92, Harvey Klauer K93 and Ashton Kelly A91 competed in the Under 15 Boys 100m Relay. Again the boys ran an amazing race and took out the bronze medal which is an incredible feat, especially as Ashton pulled up in the final leg due to a niggling injury.

Some interschool sports results this week with 4 events on and plenty of teams going out and representing the college. Lawn Bowls was cancelled unfortunately, we had plenty of students who were pretty keen to get out there but unfortunately the weather didn’t allow it.

Ultimate Frisbee ran in a trial/gala type day, EMC had a Junior Girls, Junior Boys, Intermediate Girls and Intermediate Boys. All teams had a few wins and a couple of losses but all in all did a great job getting out there and participating in some miserable conditions. It was great to see everyone having fun and displaying great sportsmanship despite the cold.

Intermediate Girls Cricket were in the same situation, horrible conditions lead to the game stop starting and made the girls unable to get the win to progress to the final.

Some great success however was had by our Year 7 Boys Hockey team, credit to these boys who have been training the house down during their lunch times with super coach Ciro Ferra. The boys won both games convincingly and will now progress through to the State Finals on Tuesday 15th November. Great effort by the boys who actually don’t have anyone that plays hockey outside of school!!.
