ACDA Year 1 Overview

VET ACTING

This year, the Year 1 Screen Acting Class were able to partake in many new learning experiences, from self-tapes to encounters with people from within the industry and we made many great friends along the way. Throughout the year, we were able to work through a range of different scripts, challenging our abilities, and improving our onscreen chemistry. We started off the year with action acting, where Chris Peters took us through the steps of the secrets behind screen action; leaning punches, kicks, slaps, and hair pulls! As the year moved on, we were able to work with the Year 2’s on their electives. With the ability to go through the whole process of auditioning, getting the part, and filming, we worked closely with our team to produce some amazing short films. Being able to watch our scenes was extremely rewarding. We were also privileged enough to have the chance to meet people working within the industry, including Nikki Wellington, Warren Parrot, Ian White, and Declan Eames. We’re all so excited to continue working and improving our skills.

Year 2 students attended an Industry Day working with Director (ex-Neighbours) Declan Eames, and Producer, Warren Parrôt on developing employability skills for the Film and TV Industry where students presented individually a chat to camera and screen-test to the guests.

An exciting surprise was when Rob Mills, popped in to talk about the needs of being an actor in the Australian Film and TV Industry.

At a later date the students attended a one-on-one Zoom screen test with the above Industry guests fulfilling their final year assessment most successfully.
