Principal Introduction

Dear Students, Parents, and Carers,

We wish our Year 12 VCE students all the best as they head into their final exams. Our Vocational Major students successfully completed their final presentation, mock interviews and have now set themselves up ready to transition into the workforce or further training. It was such a credit to this Year 12 cohort how they typified what respectful THRIVE behaviours should be. Our students looked fantastic in their striking outfits and showed gratitude towards their staff during the celebrations on Mystery Day at Gumbya World on October 20.  Congratulations to our 4 College Captains; Kiralee, Flynn, Raya and Nathan as they led the way all year, leaving a great legacy for the aspiring thirteen Year 11 school captain nominees to fill their shoes.

Our college works closely with Frankston City Council (FCC) to create safety around our neighbourhood. FCC have raised the following warnings to all drivers before fines begin to be issued;

- parking at Langwarrin’s Community Centre- this car park is only for those accessing their services and not to be used as a pick up point.

-temporarily parking at bus stops (for drop offs) along Warrandyte Rd not only has caused near misses to students getting in and out of vehicles but also leads to traffic management issues.  We hope our community can pay special attention to these requests.

Our College recently underwent an Occupational Health and Safety Management System assessment by Ernst and Young on behalf of the Department of Education and Training. This audit occurs every 4 years and the assessment report detailed our overall result equated to 95.38%. We should be proud as a school community of how safe and compliant we are comparing as one of the best across the state. Thanks to our HR Manager and Property Manager for their tireless work keeping the identified management actions required to a bare minimum. It was also worth noting from the auditors observations that our well-being team, follow up, documentation and all related student initiatives we run here at EMC “are so far ahead of other secondary schools” thanks to the outstanding leadership and congratulations to our entire OHS working group.

In regards to yet another superb well-being program, our Year 7 students learnt some   some life long mental fitness strategies and a greater sense of belonging after presentations from the Man Cave  and Women of the Future. The presenters ability to connect, encourage and support students to share their experiences and empathise with others was remarkable.

On the evening of Wednesday 12th Oct,  the Arts and Technology departments were on full display with the best of each of the subject areas at the annual Jaki Upward Art Exhibition.  It was terrific to see so many members of our community there at the event and celebrate not only each of the subject winners but our overall Jacki Upward award winner Aaron Carpenter. Thank you to all the arts and technology teachers for all the hard work behind-the-scenes supporting our students.

Finally some house keeping reminders for all students to remove their possessions and be responsible for cleaning their locker by Thursday 24th Nov. This will enable our cleaning company to give a final disinfectant wipe. Bags will only be permitted in classrooms on Thursday 24th and Friday 25th Nov and new 2023 locker lists will be posted around sub school offices (years 7-9) and the senior center. Our college will always welcome donated items to the Resource Centre for families that experience financial hardship. We thank all students for their assistance in recycling.
