Drama Matters

Last week staff and students went to see a new production of the classic Australian novel (now turned into a play) Looking for Alibrandi at Belvoir Street Theatre. It was a fantastic production teeming with outstanding and heartbreaking performances. The set, costumes and lighting all worked together to help tell this authentic coming of age story with an Australian/Italian feel – full of red tomatoes that were cooked and blended on stage and even used symbolically as blood. Thanks to Ms Fryar for accompanying us to the show.

The 39 Steps

On Friday we were very lucky to have actor, director and teacher Sam Haft join us to work with the cast of The 39 Steps. Sam worked on the original Australian version of this show that toured around the country and so his knowledge of the characters and style of the acting is invaluable to our production. Actors were encouraged to be creative and have fun whilst working on these larger than life characters. We hope Sam can come back another time to work with us again.
