1st XI v Scots All Saints College @ Oxford Falls #1 – Saturday 22 October 2022

The first round of the 2022-23 ISA competition began for the 1st XI at Oxford Falls where they were met by Scots/All Saints from Bathurst. Captain Joel Austin lost the toss and his team were in the field first. A solid opening stand by the openers was followed by wickets to Jesse Mansbridge (1-15 off 8 overs) and Andrew May (1-9 off 6 overs) along with a direct hit run out from Darcy Aylmer. Then Manas Bansal proceeded to wreak havoc with his off breaks as he ran through the opposition batting line up to end with the remarkable figures of 4.1 overs 6 wickets for 6 runs. Manas was backed up in the field by some good catching as he caused the ball to spin and bounce awkwardly. Oli Freeman took two fine catches including one from Flynn Pavely (1-10 off 5 overs), while Lachlan Jursevic, Darcy Aylmer, Pat Frost and Joel Austin all took their chances. The boys from Bathurst were bowled out for 61. With 40 minutes to bat before lunch some loose batting from St Pius and probing bowling from Scots/All Saints left the score at a precarious 3 for 13 at the break. Will Pavely (20) and Darcy Aylmer (18) steadied the ship with some sensible batting to get the home team within reach before Flynn Pavely struck two boundaries to reach the target 6 wickets down in the 26th over.

Senior Basketball

A great start to the ISA Season last weekend with a majority of teams winning first up. 4 of the 5 ‘A’ teams got a win, though our 1st V, decimated by injuries, suffered a tough loss. Our ‘C’ teams fared well away at St Pat’s, whilst our D’s were mostly too strong for Central Coast.

Please find all Round 1 results on the ISA Sport App. Filter by both School (SPX) and Sport (Basketball Boys) using the icon next to the whistle in the top right corner.

Our season continues with Round 2 this Saturday as per the draw below.

NSTA Tennis

What a great start to the season, the weather was perfect for tennis, not too hot and not too cold and lucky the rain held off for us. There were some amazing shots and great sportsmanship all round. Everyone was ready and raring to go at 8.00 am, with Pius winning 6 of the 7 matches! It was great to see some new players to SPX tennis enjoying themselves and so many friendly games being played. Thanks must go to Riley Seeto, Ethan Li and Jack Fairbanks who helped to umpire and guide our younger green ball players.

The 10.00 am games seemed quite chilled, everyone was enjoying the games and some great results were seen. In division 5 Alex Dal Molin and Will Scaiff, a new pairing displayed some excellent skills on the court winning all 18 games. Manni Costello and Daniel Harper also had and excellent stat to the season beating Redland 18 games to 4.

Strength and Conditioning

I am extremely pleased with the consistent participation and dedication our students have shown towards strength and conditioning.  I would like to remind students that it is essential you book your spot through the Mind Body App as we don't want students who booked in advance missing out on a quality workout. Please be sure to book into the sessions you intend on coming to, and cancel early if you cannot make the class. Please do not show up to the class if you are not booked in or if you are on the waitlist.

We operate on a 3 strike rule and there will be a 'strike' allocated to your name if you do not attend the session you booked.  A reminder a strike can be given to students for interruptions in regular class time and during the training session.
