Chapel Mass

Thanks to Ms Zervakos and her Year 10 Religious Education class for organising and hosting our Chapel Mass. Fr Joey provided a reflection on the building of one’s faith. It was important  to note that questioning one’s faith need not necessarily be a bad thing, as you can only question what you already have. Our readings provided the basis of living our Gospel Spirituality, that being the manner in which we interact with others – treating all with dignity and respect, is far more important that ritual observation.

We look forward to Mr Di Sano’s Year 10 Religious Education class hosting our next Chapel Mass on Monday 7 November.

Edmund Rice Beyond Borders

The Year 10 Student Empowerment Team reconnected with our fellow Edmund Rice school, Ardscoil na Mara, in Ireland on Tuesday 25 October. This was our second Zoom meeting where each school presented on what was quintessentially Irish or Australian in relation to sport. In our first meeting what stood out to the students was very real experience our Irish school was having in relation to the conflict in Ukraine. Many refugees have made it to Ireland, with children from the conflict now enrolled at Ardscoil na Mara. To live out the touchstone of Inclusive Community, the school has re-named all of the classrooms in Ukrainian so the refugee students feel more at home. We look forward to sharing our experiences related to our Christmas giving in coming meetings. My thanks to Mrs Joanne McCarthy for supervising the students.

Year 10 Opportunities

Preparations are well underway for the year 10 Immersion Program taking place in Week 8. We look forward to sharing with you the experiences that students will gain from our partnership networks.

Another opportunity that will be made available very soon is the Eucharistic Ministers' Training that will be offered to Year 10. This opportunity to serve the community will include a training day along with added responsibilities for serving not only the St Pius X community, but wider Chatswood community.
