Year 9 Camps Continue

The Year 9 camps continued in Week 2 with Homerooms 3 and 4 completing an array of outdoor activities, water sports and cultural workshops.  The boys showed great enthusiasm towards all the activities even under difficult weather conditions and showed great respect to the people they met, including Uncle Gavin, the Aboriginal Elder who spoke to the students about the history and culture of the Darkinjung people.  Students were engaged in their discussions on environmental issues and participated in community initiatives to show great support for the local area.  Week 3 sees the final homeroom group complete the wonderful experience at Workul Koo.

Happy Birthday to Christian Wong and Lucas Youngman who celebrated their birthdays on camp this week with the obligatory candles and cake.

On behalf of all of the Year 9 students we thank Mr Gillogly and the Year 9 Pastoral Care staff along with Mr Dobb, Mr Perry, Mr Ryan, Ms Barwick, Mr Barnes, and Ms Wang.

Buddies Bushwalk

Please note that the Mindmatters Wellbeing Team will be conducting the Buddies Bushwalk on Sunday 6 November between The Spit and Forty Baskets Beach where we will be able to conclude with morning tea and a swim in the netted area there. Interested students and particularly Year 11 students willing to act as Buddies should see Mr Russo, Mr Ticli or Mr Brannan ASAP.

St Mary's Bowraville

St Mary's Primary school and community at Bowraville is a partner school for whom we collect Giving Tree gifts in Term 4. Gumbayngirr man, Mark Smith, their Aboriginal Education Officer accompanied our Reconciliation 1st XV Rugby Tour to Brisbane in July. Year 10 students who may have missed Immersion or Camp selection this year, along with Year 7 students who would be interested in developing our association with St Mary's Primary School and Community at Bowraville, are invited to see Mr Brannan for information regarding a planned Cultural Immersion trip on 12 and 13 December.

Weeding With a Will Day

As a part of our RAP and endorsed by Cammeraygal elder Professor Dennis Foley and building on the work of our students in June students are invited to the Frenchs Forest Parish, St Anthony in the Fields Terrey Hills "WEEDING WITH A WILL DAY" from 11.00 am – 1.00 pm on Sunday 13 November.

St Pius X students can join Brigidine, Monte and Mater Maria students in this “Laudato Si” inspired rejuvenation of Kieran’s Ck, a Bora Ring site and pathway between the Cammeraygal Beaches and Cowan clans.
