From the Principal

We would like to acknowledge the original custodians of this land

and pay our respects to the Elders past and present and emerging,

for they hold the memories, the traditions, the culture and hopes of Indigenous Australia.

Dear Families,

Welcome to Term Four!  It's hard to believe that we are in the final term of 2022.  We have so much to celebrate thus far and even more to look forward to this term.

Ukrainian Families

We are fortunate and privileged  to now have five Ukrainian families whose children come to our school.  Our students have welcomed them with open arms and have made them feel part of our school community with ease, settling into schooling that is very different to back home.  Welcome to Artem, Tymofii, Vasilisa, Nikol, Sofiia and Ustym.  On the school's behalf I welcome their families and extend our support in any way that we can. Please refer to the English section of the newsletter where you will find out about their schooling and their languages and the support that they receive from our dedicated staff.

Level Crossing Removal Project – Southern Program Alliance

I am pleased to announce that this week representatives for the Level Crossing Removal Project  invited our school to become involved with the project that is currently taking place in our surrounding suburbs.

As a result the following activities will take place:

1. After school pop-up Hub in the Pavilion

Timing: Tuesday 18 October 3.30pm - 4.15pm

Information hub for parents/guardians and teachers regarding upcoming works and disruptions.

Stall will also feature:

  • Spend and Win competition information
  • Halloween Scavenger Hunt activity sheet
  • Local trader vouchers
  • Lolly bags

2. Planter box decoration and planting activity

  • Donation of planter boxes made from repurposed timber from felled vegetation on the project;
  • donation of plants (or voucher) from local nursery, with SPA staff and pupils involved in a planting activity; and
  • facilitating an activity to paint the planter boxes, led by an Indigenous Engagement Advisor, to incorporate indigenous design into the artwork.

3. Walking tours

This would involve small groups of children being led by project staff on a designated route around key viewing areas of the project.  There will also be the opportunity to hear from their subject matter experts about what their day looks like on the project. This would be followed by the students participating in an activity that requires them to share what they have learnt about the tour and presentation.
