HOUSE ATHLETICS SPORTS DAY - THURSDAY 9TH MARCH

Unfortunately Brauerander Park is still under construction! But the House Athletics Sports Day for Years 4-6 will still go ahead here at school. Students have already completed the 200m, 800m and 1500m events at school and ribbons will be presented on Monday to the placegetters in each age group so that they can wear them on the day. A list of the schedule of events is below. Students participating are encouraged to wear their house colours. Please ensure they have ad drink bottle for the day, hat and wearing sunscreen.

The school canteen will be open at recess and lunch offering a small variety of options. This will be open to all students across all year levels. A list of items and prices are below.

We're looking for volunteers to help on the day either on the oval for the events or in the school canteen at recess and lunch. If you are available please contact the office on 5561 5955.

UNIFORM SALE - THURSDAY 9TH MARCH

We have excess stock of our Summer uniform so we're having a sale. There's lots to choose from so make sure you come along and snap up a bargain.

NAPLAN - WEDNESDAY 15TH TO MONDAY 27TH MARCH

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) assesses literacy and numeracy skills that are essential for every child to progress through school and life. Students in Years 3 and 5 will participate in the annual NAPLAN tests in reading, writing, language conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy.

The tests provide parents and schools with an understanding of how individual students are performing at the time of the tests. NAPLAN tests are just one aspect of a school’s assessment and reporting process; they do not replace ongoing assessments made by teachers about student performance.

NAPLAN tests also provide schools, education authorities and governments with information about how education programs are working and whether young Australians are meeting important educational outcomes in literacy and numeracy.

BREAKFAST CLUB

Each Monday and Friday Breakfast Club runs for all students to come along and enjoy a bowl of cereal and some toast. It's on from 8.15am in the BER (Year 5/6) Building.

It's been proven that children who eat a healthy breakfast retain information better and tend to have more focus throughout the day.

MENS SHED

The Mens Shed program is back and running again this year for selected students in Years 5 and 6. Yesterday students made their way down to the Hyland Street for their first session. They worked on correct measuring, use of a mitre square and a try square, drilling and sawing.

The boys enjoyed learning new skills and we can’t wait to see what they come up with!

DISTRICT TENNIS

Last Friday we had students representing the school at District Tennis. Below are the results:

  • Willow Jolly made the semi final
  • Nico Savage won his pool and progresses through to Division Tennis

Congratulations to all the students who participated especially on such a hot day.

DIVISION SWIMMING

Yesterday students who qualified by time participated in the Division Swimming Carnival at Aquazone. Well done to Nabeila Campling, Sam Turner, Rob Cleverley, Bella Leonard, Asha Taylor-Wright and Willow Jolly.

COLOUR RUN - FRIDAY 19TH MARCH

The fundraising committee are well underway with their organisation of this years Colour Run which will be on Friday 17 March 2023.

It’s expected to be another fun-filled event at Jamo and a great fundraiser for our school. We are keen to raise money to put towards a new Basketball/Netball court which we certainly need. There will be helpers required so please get on board and help where you can. It’s also incredibly important that we raise as many funds as we can to upgrade our outdoor playing surfaces. Donations can be made through Compass Tix using this link https://compasstix.com/e/izafe7pu7s or sponsor sheets have been sent home and cash donations will be accepted at the school office.

HOT CROSS BUN DRIVE

Believe it or not Easter is fast approaching. Bakers Delight Norfolk Plaza have been incredibly generous sponsors of Warrnambool Primary School in the past and we are keen to support their business as part of our annual Hot X Bun drive. Forms have been sent home so please support our school and fundraising committee by purchasing Hot X buns through this activity. We know that you will enjoy them.

EASTER RAFFLE

The Easter Raffle is back again this year!

Tickets will be sent home next week and are $1 each. Hamper donations can be made to the school office by Friday 31st March.

HIGH SCHOOL OPEN NIGHTS

Warrnambool College and Brauer College have their opening nights coming up in March.

It's important that if you are looking at sending your child to one of these high schools that you attend these nights.

Have a great weekend!
