Sustainabilty News

The new Year 6 Sustainability Leaders have been chosen for 2023. We welcome Daniella, Luke, Erica, Madison, Jess and Josh to the team. We have begun to brainstorm our goals for the year and are keen to reinforce the nude food message. Most classes are already doing a great job and will be monitored over a period of time to see who will win our nude food lunch box award at assemblies. Healthy, rubbish-free lunches are one way we can reduce waste at school. Packaging is discouraged and all scraps go home to be disposed of appropriately.

The team also joined Mr. Sweeney and myself as we contributed to Clean Up Australia Day by picking up rubbish around Holyrood Street and then sorting it correctly to dispose of it.

Last Wednesday we walked around Holyrood Street picking up rubbish. We found a lot of cans and lolly wrappers. I usually don’t like picking up rubbish but because we were part of a team I didn’t mind joining in. -Madison.

It was a really fun experience because we knew that we were going to be able to help the planet even in a small way - Erica.

It’s good to help our environment to stay safe and to keep our beautiful planet clean - Daniella.

As you can see, the students are keen to keep our planet clean. Other students participated with their families on the day. Thank you to everyone who makes a difference.
