Harmony Day

It was a sea of orange on Harmony Day with students participating in age appropriate activities celebrating diversity.  See photos and a recap from our year 6's below.

________________________________________________________________________________

Harmony Day is when we celebrate other cultures and their differences. We celebrate this special day on the 21st of March. The reason we celebrate Harmony Day is because it's a day where we can experience and celebrate other cultures' traditions and others can share their cultural  history. It’s important to recognize this day because we have to celebrate who we are and make sure that we understand that everyone belongs. We wear orange because the color signifies social connection and meaningful conversation.

We celebrated Harmony Day by making a globe in our classroom and reading an article that taught us all about Harmony Day. It was great fun.

Interesting Facts

Harmony Day is a special day in Australia that celebrates cultural diversity and promotes social cohesion through mutual respect and understanding. It is observed annually on March 21st and is an opportunity for individuals and communities to come together and celebrate our differences, while also recognizing the things we have in common.

Harmony Day is important because it helps to promote inclusivity and diversity within our society, which in turn leads to stronger and more united communities. It also helps to raise awareness about the different cultural backgrounds that exist within Australia, and encourages individuals to embrace the values of respect, tolerance, and understanding.

Wearing orange on Harmony Day is a way to show your support for the cause of cultural diversity and inclusivity. Orange is the official color of Harmony Day, and represents the value of social harmony that we strive to achieve!

At CEPS, we celebrated Harmony Day by organizing a range of activities as well as talks and discussions on the importance of diversity and inclusivity in our society.

Interesting facts about Harmony Day include:

- Harmony Day was originally started in 1999 as "International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination" and was later renamed in 2003 to Harmony Day.

Overall, Harmony Day is an important day in Australia's calendar, promoting the importance of diversity, inclusivity, and social harmony within our society. By celebrating our differences and embracing the values of respect and understanding, we can all help to make Australia a more vibrant, dynamic and united nation.
