FREE DRESS DAY – 2023 iCAN CHALLENGE

Most of us have heard of the Royal Children’s Hospital.  Some of our families have been involved with the hospital in some way or another. If you haven’t, you probably know someone who has.

Back in 2014 Langwarrin Primary School joined together with Elisabeth Murdoch College to create a challenge to raise funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital Good Friday Appeal. A 50 km walk! This was the beginning of the iCAN Challenge.

We are now preparing for our 5th walk. In 2023 we have approximately 50 students, 20 parents and 6 staff participating in the challenge. Together with Elisabeth Murdoch College, Woodlands PS and Langwarrin Park PS, we will be part of the biggest iCAN so far. Over 300 people walking from Melbourne (St Kilda) to Frankston foreshore.

So… we need all our families to get behind our walkers and help them achieve the challenge.

Here at Langwarrin PS we are holding a free dress day on Friday 17th March. We are asking our families to help provide a donation to assist our walkers on the day at the various aide stations along their 50km walk.

For our Prep families and other new families to the school.

Throughout the year we hold various free dress days for a range of reasons but most often it is to raise awareness and funds for a cause that is close to our hearts.

Our free dress days mean that the children can wear their own choice of clothes to school for the day, that’s right – no school uniform on this day.  Students are reminded that they must still wear enclosed shoes and bring their hat for outside play.  Student’s shoulders should be covered (no spaghetti type straps)
