The Year 7, 2025 enrolment process started earlier this term, with interested families submitting their Expressions of Interest and related documentation. It is most pleasing that we have a lot more applications than we have positions, with healthy waiting pools for most year groups.
With interview offers for Year 7, 2025 going out today, I am aware that those who do not get a first round offer for an interview may be disappointed and upset. I thank all families who look to have their children educated at Sacred Heart College and I very much understand the disappointment that families who miss out might feel.
As a school of choice for a large number of families in the northern suburbs, we tend to have a trend of double the number of new families looking for a Year 7, 2025 enrolment. Families will be given the opportunity to stay on our waiting pool and will be contacted should places become available in the future.
A reminder to our current families who have a child in Year 5: please ensure you have an application in our system if you wish them to start in Year 7, 2025. If you need assistance in this area, kindly email our Registrar, Mrs Niki Jenkins, at registrar@sacredheart.wa.edu.au.
As part of our motto, Always Striving Upwards, we evaluate our processes on an ongoing basis in order to stay relevant in an ever-changing world and deliver best practises for our students.
This semester, we have set up three committees to review the following key school matters:
All staff were invited to volunteer their time to be a part of one of these committees and I thank all those who have offered their time and commitment. The Chair of each committee will present their discussions and recommendations to the Executive by the end of Semester 1. I will then share the final outcomes with all community members.
I was delighted with the progression of the College Musical Production for this year, Mamma Mia! The Musical, at their rehearsal last Sunday. The band and the singing of the ABBA songs are both sounding very polished and strong. I wish all the students well as they continue to prepare for their performances early in Term 2. My thanks to all the staff and parents involved in rehearsing and assisting with the production.
My best wishes to all students for Heart Week. I am particularly looking forward to visiting the Year 12s on their retreat and Year 7s at their camp. My thanks to all the Assistant Deputy Principals, Mr Lucio Cicchini, Mrs Sandra Manning and Mr Chris Kan for their organisation of the week and to teachers who will be participating with each of the year groups. It is great to offer these important activities, particularly as you may recall that many of these activities were cancelled or significantly modified last year.
The Sacred Heart Netball Club fields teams in the Wanneroo Districts Netball Association (WDNA) competition at Kingsway on Saturdays during the Winter season. The Club focuses on girls having fun, building friendships, inclusivity and getting some exercise. The Club is an official team at the College that uses the school’s logo and name and is proudly one of the only remaining high school teams in WDNA.
At this stage, we need to fill the Year 7, 9 and 10 teams with more players. The Club are currently offering a ‘refer a friend to go into the draw to win a $100 gift card’ competition. Registrations have been further extended until 8:00pm on Friday 10 March to accommodate this. Further instructions are available in this Newsletter.
My best wishes to all for a most enjoyable long weekend.
God Bless.
