BOOK FAIR

Dear Parents,

‘HARMONY IN THE RAINFOREST’

Our first Book Fair for 2023 is fast approaching and set to open for sales in Week 8, 20th March to 24th March.

Classes will have the chance to attend the Book Fair during their library session and can make a ‘Wish List’; younger students will receive help with this. The Wish Lists will then be sent home so parents can review them.

Parents will be able to review their child’s choices online at www.larrikinhouse.com and make a pre-payment using Larrikin Cash. You can search for CASH and it will bring up Larrikin Cash as an option to buy.

Larrikin Cash works just like real cash, and even prints out to look like money! It’s set up as an online item where you can simply enter any amount you wish. (Please don’t add the actual products to your online cart, just the Larrikin Cash item, as products need to be collected from the book fair).

Once you pass through the checkout, you will then receive an email with your Larrikin Cash, which you can either print out and give to your child or write the 5 digit code onto the wish list. (If you don’t receive the email immediately after checkout, please check your spam/junk mail folder.)

You are effectively buying a voucher that can then be exchanged for any items at the Book Fair.

Your child will then bring the Larrikin Cash / Wish List to school and visit the library during the Book Fair.

We will also be accepting regular cash and credit card payments on site during the Book Fair too.

Although every effort will be made to ensure your child brings home the correct item/s there could be a lack of stock or change of students’ minds.

If there is a discrepancy, please contact us and we will resolve it as best we can.

If you would like to donate a new book to our school library or your child’s class library, please let us know when paying for the item and we will put it aside with a note and make sure it gets to its desired location.

During the fair, I am looking for parent helpers to assist students at the fair and to help with sales. If you can assist before school, during break times or after school please send me through an email at mel.bevan@ntschools.net.

Keep an eye out for all the amazing Book Fair posters around the school which our talented students designed.

Looking forward to seeing you at the Book Fair!

Congratulations to the winner of our Book Fair poster competition: Alisha Shaiju. And our runners up: Aanshi Patel, Jazlyn Binu and Portia Gurney.

HARMONY DAY

Harmony Day is on Wednesday 22 March. Students can wear either cultural dress or an orange shirt with uniform bottoms.

Living Waters is celebrating Harmony Day with a rotating activities session from 9.00-10.20am. Our students will participate in activities that focus on the amazing cultures and backgrounds of our families. We welcome any parents or carers to join us for our celebration. You might volunteer to help or perhaps feel that you could run an activity that celebrates your own cultural background. If you are interested, please email Miss Moloney - narelle.moloney@ntschools.net.

PARENT/TEACHER INTERVIEWS

Parent/teacher interviews will be taking place in Week 9 for Year 1 students and Week 10 for all other year levels. The interviews will be held in your child's classroom and will run for approximately 10 minutes.

To make a booking please visit:

CANTEEN

Please remember that all canteen orders require a bag. Separate bags are needed for first and second break. You can purchase paper or reusable bags through the School 24 app when ordering. Please check the 'bags' section of the menu. Students are also welcome to use a lunch bag purchased from elsewhere or brought form home - make sure to clearly label it though.

Narelle in the canteen is looking for volunteers to help out, particularly from 8.30-10.30am and 12.00-1.00pm, but any time you can give would be much appreciated. To register your interest please email Narelle at lwls.canteen@ntschools.net.

Our School ID for School24 ordering is 2513 7963.

CHIEF MINISTER'S READING CHALLENGE

Students are challenged to read 12 books in 24 weeks. A parent or teacher is required to sign off on each book read on their ‘Student Reading Record’ sheet which have been sent home. Once completed please hand in to the library.

Students are not limited to read just 12 books and if they need another Reading Record, these can be collected from Mrs Bevan in the Library.

STAY, PLAY, LEARN

Stay, Play, Learn is a program that involves parents and children 0 to 5 years old from our community getting together to share some learning experiences and build connections. Stay, Play, Learn will be happening on Wednesday 1 March and Tuesday 4 April. Please feel free to attend any or all of these dates. Meet in the hall after Worship. Worship commences at 8.30am.

UNIFORM SHOP

Due to staffing our Uniform Shop will be open for the remainder of the term on Wednesday mornings 8.30am-9.30am. Back to School Vouchers are available for use until the end of Term 1.
