Primary School

From the Head of Primary

This year, one of our focuses as a Primary School is to bring back the elements of fun that had been pushed to the side due to social restrictions. On Friday, our Primary School Leaders hosted our very first music assembly where we were able to hear our choirs perform once again for us. The Tiny Trebles gave us a very cute rendition of 'Three Little Fishies', whilst our Primary Voices entertained us with ‘When I Grow Up’, from Matilda The Musical. Ms Kaila Thomas, our Music teacher and choir leader, did a fantastic job preparing our students with such a short time to practice. For many, it was their first time performing and they all did an amazing job of entertaining us. A gentle reminder that joining the choir is a commitment and attending rehearsals is imperative. Out of politeness and for duty of care reasons, please let Kaila know if your child will be absent. We look forward to music performances being a regular part of our Primary School assemblies.

Harmony Week

Harmony Week is a celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. Students have been participating in activities at a classroom level, and on Friday afternoon, students will gather in groups determined by interest to complete activities celebrating Harmony Day. Activities from cooking to crafts to circus to sports that celebrate diversity and culture have carefully been prepared by our teachers for our students from Pre-Primary to Year Six. I look forward to sharing photos of their afternoon, next week.

NAPLAN

Our Years Three and Five students have commenced NAPLAN this week, ably led by our teachers Mr Hardey, Ms Laneaux-Neale and Ms Diletti. Tests will conclude next week and results will be made available in the first half of the year. The results will be communicated slightly differently this year, as advised by Mr Mark Sawle earlier this term. We welcome the data the results give us to continuously better our support and learning experiences on offer for our students.

Values and ECC Stars of the Week

'Respect' has been our focus this fortnight and, as pointed out by our School Captain, comes in three aspects. Respect for ourselves, others and the environment. Teachers are on the lookout to award students who continuously show respect and offer opportunities for growth within this school value.

Our focus on commitment concluded this week with our last round of certificates. Congratulations to Tyler Ravenhill, Bryce Galos, George Stone, Laily Wrobel, Sonny Williamson, Rose Bane, Ava Murnane and Ally Buxton who were recognised this week for championing the school value of 'Commitment'.

Well done to our ECC students Elleanor-Grace, Wes and Jax who were our ECC stars of the week.
