Assistant Principal's Report

RIDE TO SCHOOL

Great things are happening at Echuca East every week and boy was today a great example of this.

Today we had 88% of our students ride, skate or walk to school which is our best turn out ever for National Ride2School day. As one of two flagships schools chosen from the 900 participating schools Australia wide, our Easties didn’t disappoint.

Our day kicked off with a healthy breakfast of pancakes, yogurts and fruit. We had bikes streaming through the gates along with so many of our Eastie families that came along to support the day. With the music pumping, it was a great atmosphere and a great way to kick off a big day.

Dr Cranky was back to support and once again had his hands full as he serviced and repaired a power of bikes. He also brought along a few reconditioned bikes that he gave away to students who didn’t own one. We really can’t thank him enough and are so grateful for the work he has done for us.

Our decorated bike competition was a hit with over 80 bikes entered and displayed in the ‘Show and Shine’ throughout lunchtime. Lachie and Jude from the bicycle network had their hands full judging but managed to decide on a winner and two runner ups for each level. Our winners received a $50 Intersport voucher while our runners up are heading to movies with an Echuca Paramount ticket each. We also have our Intersport voucher winners from each class who will be announced at next week’s assembly along with the winners of the class party.

Thank you to all students, families and staff who supported this great day and we look forward to making it even bigger next year.
