Debating

We had great success at senior debating last Monday night with 3 out of 4 teams winning their debates. The team that didn’t win was unlucky and were most impressive too in their delivery. Linh Nguyen 9D was the 3rd speaker for the negative and was brilliant with her rebuttal. The teachers from the other school commented on how impressed they were with her speech and were surprised that the debate didn’t go our way. What is most impressive is the support and collaboration of all students involved. We are looking forward to our year 10 teams debating each other next Monday night with an unseen topic.

Currently we have 2 teams on top of the ladder. Sam La of year 10E has been recognised for his outstanding debating skills and offered a free place at a training camp over the holidays.

Junior Debating is also under way and so far we have heard outstanding speeches from Karamvir Singh 7G, Jillian Bautista 8F, Billy Chen 8F and Kayslin Lui Lam 8F. We meet in F9 each Thursday lunchtime and the official tournament will begin on 15, August.
