Start Up Program

At the beginning of each year a “Start Up Program” is implemented for the first 3 weeks. This program provides time for students to get to know their teachers and the students in their class and to develop a plan about how they want to work together as a class team. The program also provides students with a variety of activities and opportunities to learn and practice class and school routines focussing on the importance of following rules and the student expectations.

Students have also been learning about rules when using technology. The school’s Acceptable User Agreement was introduced in classes as part of the Start Up program.  The focus has been on students developing an understanding that:

  • Teacher equipment is not available to students
  • Student will only use equipment allocated to them
  • Students will take care of their ICT equipment
  • Students will follow teacher directions to start activities, finish activities and pack up their devices
  • Students will only use apps designated by the teacher

At the conclusion of these sessions students signed the Acceptable User Agreement which gave them license to use the school’s iPad and other teacher approved technology devices.
