2017 Swimming Carnival – 20th February

On a dark, gloomy morning, Cheltenham Secondary College students packed the spectator area of Oakleigh Recreation Centre. Although the weather wasn’t great, the students made the most of what tends to be a highlight of the year.  Oakleigh proved to be a fantastic venue to highlight student’s talents and the house spirit seen by all students was outstanding. The house areas were full of colourful costumes and house colours. Many of the year 12 students wore fancy dress outfits, which made for a fantastic view across the pool.

There were a number of individual students who jumped in the pool and achieved some great results in their events, which was fantastic to see. A highlight of the day was the novelty events which saw students do a t-shirt race at the end of the day to get triple points for their house. This event was highly popular and got a number of students in the pool who were yet to get in and swim. The event was also very entertaining for spectators.

A big thank you to all the staff and student helpers (particularly the VCAL students) who came along on the day and were enthusiastic in all the jobs that were thrown at them (even if it meant they were out in the rain!).

A huge congratulations to the following students who performed the best in their age groups and will go on to represent the school on the 7th March, 2017.
