Pastoral Care 2017 &
PFA Reminders
As you are all aware, Cheltenham Secondary has made a variety of changes to the school structure in 2017. This has been important to allow special programs to run in conjunction with our Teaching and Learning across all of our curriculum areas.
There has been no more important program than our Pastoral Care/Positive Education Well-being Program. We are extremely passionate at Cheltenham Secondary on the development of the ‘whole’ student. Learning Curve has the theory that there is no ‘silver bullet’ to building student wellbeing. It is about regularly feeling positive emotions, self-assessing and setting self-expectations.
“It is the frequency of positive emotion, not its intensity, which builds wellbeing.”
So we invite parents, carers and family members to enjoy the journey and experience that Learning Curve provides us this year. All you have to do is encourage your students to use the Middle school diary (years 7-9) and Senior school diary (year 10-12). They have year level specific activities and challenges! There are weekly activities for them to complete in and out of the Pastoral Care sessions which are period 3 every Monday.
The Cheltonian will give updates and provide information on the current themes of the program. We encourage everyone to get involved, including staff, because the benefits could be endless! Please contact us with your first hand experiences with the program, we would love to hear from families and the positive effects of the program! Enjoy!
