Principal's Report

Principal's Report

Welcome back to Term 4. This is an important term across the school as students from all levels work hard to consolidate, and demonstrate, their learning progress for the year.  In particular, year 12 students are preparing hard for their upcoming exams.

For Year 7-11 students, Parent Teacher Student Conferences on October 30, are an important part of ensuring a successful completion of the year. We greatly value the partnership between school and home and are looking forward to seeing all students and parents on this night. This semester, we have been particularly working on routines that embed High Impact Strategies to ensure students learn effectively. Please ask teachers about how this works on the night.

Another important factor in school success is attendance. This is a good time of the year to reinforce that regular attendance at school is the single most important factor in effective learning. Although our attendance policy sets 90% as the minimum satisfactory attendance rate, there is actually no safe number of days that students can take off. Every day that a student is absent from school, they affect their potential academic achievement. If your child is sick and needs to miss a day please make sure you let us know on our absence line (9743 5061). Once your child returns they can book into junior Homework Club or senior Work Attendance Redemption (WAR) to catch up on the work they have missed and be credited with attendance.

Child Safety

Our school focus on learning, effort and respect lived through our motto of try persevere achieve are underpinned by an understanding that Child Safety is a paramount responsibility of the school community. Staughton College has a number of guiding policies regarding Child Safety on our web site located at http://www.staughtoncollege.vic.edu.au/administration/. Please take some time to make yourself aware of these and contact the school should you have any concerns regarding Child Safety.
